Boesemani Rainbow Fish (scientifically known as Melanotaenia boesemani)

1. Overview:

   • The Boesemani Rainbow Fish, also known as “Boeseman’s Rainbowfish,” hails from the Ayamaru Lakes in West Papua, Indonesia. These freshwater beauties belong to the Melanotaeniidae family, a group named for their bright colors.
   • Their streamlined bodies, pointed snouts, and large, distinct scales make them instantly recognizable. Males grow up to 4 inches (10 cm) in size, displaying an iridescent blue front half and an orange back half. Females are less colourful, with slimmer bodies usually around 3" (8cm) long.
   • Boesemani Rainbow Fish thrive in a minimum tank size of 30 gallons and enjoy a tropical climate. They constantly move around open swimming spaces, displaying their vibrant colors.
   • These fish are excellent choices for a peaceful community aquarium. However, be mindful of suitable tank mates, as their rapid movements may stress slow-moving or skittish fish.
